You might remember Piper & James from their vintage styled and themed engagement session, entirely styled and put together by Piper herself, that my friend Jenny Lewis and I shot several months ago. Ever since then, I’ve been looking forward to what Piper would come up with for the actual wedding, and having just returned from Richmond, where the wedding was held, I can honestly say that any and all expectations that I had were thoroughly shattered. The entire wedding was Victorian themed, including every single one of the guests, who came in the widest assortment of clothing from the 18th and 19th Century that I’ve ever seen. Piper’s love for all things medieval and vintage (not to mention her love of James, which clearly has no bounds) extended to every aspect of the wedding. From brain mold jell-o and a cemetery wedding cake, to a gigantic box of props to help guests accessorize in style to toe-tags as place settings, she made sure that this wedding would be one that none of us would forget.
From The Historic Linden Row Inn, where we all stayed and where Piper & James got ready in the afternoon, to the Hollywood Cemetery, where James first proposed to Piper, and where we managed to do a quick trash-the-dress shoot before the wedding, to the Maymont Estate, where the wedding was held, we had an absolutely amazing day. Thanks to Jenny Lewis for shooting this with me and to Piper & James for throwing one hell of a party!
