Kate and Oliver’s wedding was pretty much incredible. I love that I got to photograph them in two completely different surroundings, not only geographically, as I photographed their engagement in Brooklyn, and their wedding was out on the Chesapeake Bay in beautiful Annapolis, but also with two extremes in weather. During their engagement, we got to play in the late evening snow, and had a cloudless day with clear blue skies on their wedding day. Of course one thing didn’t change, and that was the sheer joy, happiness and general awesomeness that Kate and Oliver, their family and friends embodied.
I loved all of the unique touches that Kate and Oliver added to their wedding, including taking cue from elements of Quaker weddings, during the ceremony, there was a ten minute period of silence, during which anyone can stand up and give the couple some words of encouragement. During the reception, instead of a DJ, each event, whether it be the start of dinner, each toast or the cake cutting, was announced by a different friend or family member. They also had a fantastic series of cakes with a spectacular (and hand-made) cake topper of them riding bicycles.
Not to mention the dancing. Because it was pretty much awesome.
Hope you enjoy!
