One of the things I love about wedding photography is that professionalism and levity are not mutually exclusive qualities when it comes to achieving perfection. On many occasions, they go hand-in-hand.
My first foray into photography was shooting landscapes which, aside from the absence of people, is surprisingly similar to weddings. Both are about recognizing when multiple elements crystallize into one visually spectacular instance.
That first playful, awestruck glance between a new bride and groom is just as delicate and precise a moment as that one millisecond when the new sun first breaks the desert horizon.
For those in them, weddings are a blur of excitement. Hours go by like minutes. My job is to capture the story of the day as it unfolds; allowing you to revisit and relive the magic over and over.
In life and work, if I can’t continuously grow and push creative boundaries, what’s the point? Photography provides me a profession and a love with which I can never plateau, bore, tire, or stagnate. There’s simply too much to know and too much yet to be discovered.
I’m based in the Washington, D.C. area but love to travel. Contact me to chat about your wedding day.
